About the Church
We believe we are not the only Christians, but we want to be known as Christians only. This is why we are First Christian Church. We are an independent church. We are part of the brotherhood of Christian Churches and Churches of Christ, but we have no governing diocese or hierarchy outside our local congregation. We have no creed but Christ and no doctrines except for those which are found in God’s Holy Word. The Bible is our only rule of faith and practice.
We preach God’s plan of salvation as clearly shown in the verses of the New Testament:
- Hear the Word – “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
- Believe the Word – “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:16)
- Repentance – “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” (Acts 2:38)
- Confession – “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
- Baptism by immersion – “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also — not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God”s right hand — with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.” (1 Peter 3:18-22)
“We are therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:4)
